2006 COMMUNITY CALENDAR Meet and Greet Island Breaststrokers welcomed several prospective members at the annual Meet and Greet at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Royal Oak. Prospective members were each welcomed with a pink carnation, an IBS information folder, and then were introduced to assigned IBS buddies. President Etiennette Soulodre welcomed guests and introduced the IBS coaches, James Hill and Barb Gamble. Etiennette also introduced Marjorie Woodroffe, who started the Island Breaststrokers team in 1997 and who is still a paddling member. Sue Quinlan, life coach gave a short talk. Alan Thurston of Light Images presented his spectacular slide show of special moments in dragon boating highlighting the Island Breaststrokers. Monica McAuley spoke briefly about nutrition and athletic performance and took questions from the audience. Heidi Low gave a talk on the importance of warm up exercises in relation to dragon boating and then demonstrated a condensed version of a typical warm up. Etiennette thanked the guests for attending and the event wrapped up at 8:30 p.m.
